Therapy in Nature
Outdoor Sessions in the Hudson Valley
There’s something that happens when therapy moves outside.
The office has its uses – privacy, containment, a dedicated space, but it also has walls.
And walls, however comfortable, limit what’s possible.
Outside, something opens.
A nature-based therapy session looks like…
We begin with a gentle walk to our sitting spot; transitioning from the world you came from into the forest.
Then we sit, we listen.
The trees reaching upward. The sky beyond the canopy. Birdsong, frog song, wind through leaves. The aliveness around us is part of the work.
We talk, much like we would indoors. But our context is expanded. A blue jay call punctuates something you’re sharing, the boundary between inside and out blurs, it’s an invitation to look deeper.
I’ll ask the same questions I’d ask indoors: What do you notice in your body as you say that?
But outside, the answers have more space.
Sometimes we stay seated. Sometimes we get up – to find something that calls to you, to touch the world, to move through space. In the forest, I draw on nature-awareness practices that aren’t possible within four walls.
When there’s a fire, we tend it together. The smoke, the flame, the heat; all of it changes in response to what’s happening between us. The fire is a participant in our work.

Who therapy in nature is for
Therapy in Nature is available to individuals and couples – both current clients and new clients who feel drawn to this approach.
It’s for anyone who has felt that something is missing from indoor therapy, not because the work isn’t good, but because the regular therapy container feels too small, too limited.
It’s is for people who believe something shifts when they’re outside.
Therapy in Nature is for people eager to grow and hungry to lean into connection to something larger than their own story.
